Our Services and Fees
One goal at Families in Transition is no surprises. That is true about what we charge. We will talk to you about our fees at the outset, but here they are.
Mediation Services
The fee for each mediation session is $150.00. A session is 45 minutes long. Additional mediation time is charged in 15-minute increments of $50.00. Fees for all mediation services are due in full at the conclusion of each session.<.p>
Prepayment Option: Currently, if you prepay for 5 sessions, we’ll give you the 6th session free (applied at that session, not before). In other words, you can buy 6 sessions for just $750.00.
Cancellation Fee: If one or both of you miss a scheduled session, or the session is cancelled in less than 24 hours, we may charge each of you a cancellation fee of $75.00
Divorce Financial Planning Services
Though we use divorce financial planning as an integral part of your mediation, we offer planning services as a stand-alone service. Many people choose this when they are already working with a lawyer or mediator. The charge for a 30 minute consultation, review or your financial and budget statements, and production of projections based on this data and your assumptions (including 3 “what-if” scenarios) is $250.00. If you need us to testify in a hearing, trial or in affidavit form, there will be an hourly charge.
Legal and Document Charges
Included in the session fees you pay is a Memorandum of Understanding. However, if you are ready for a separation agreement and/or divorce, we can help you with legal services. Legal services are provided by Anthony J. Pietrafesa, Esq. under a separate retainer agreement as required by the courts.
Separation / Divorce Settlement Agreements:$600.00 to $1,000.00, depending on whether or not you have children there is maintenance being paid and other assets or liabilities that need careful planning.
Uncontested Judgment of Divorce: The fee to prepare all the documents needed to obtain an is $750.00. In addition, the county clerk has filing fees that range from $340.00 to $375.00.
Deeds: We can handle the transfer or sale of your home for a legal fee of $300.00, plus the costs associated with a real estate sale.
Hourly Rate: We charge $50.00 for each 15 minute increment of time spent speaking with either of you or someone on your behalf on the telephone, or reading or responding to any emails or written communication, or preparing any letters or documents.
Billing: All document charges are due before the documents are prepared or delivered to you. Hourly charges are due when rendered.
